| Still a bit snowy in Cheyenne, WY |
We left Cheyenne WY with the sun shining on us. The roads were still a bit wet with some melty, snowy patches but drivable.
Shortly after
we crossed into Colorado we encountered fog. Not pea soup fog but
fog nevertheless.

| Fog before Denver |
It cleared up just
before Denver and was sunny thereafter. Took the Denver by-pass and
stopped for lunch just N. of Colorado Springs. The wind picked up
mightily as we got near Pueblo and was just a howlin' as we
parked at the S. Pueblo KOA for the night. Sun is shining
tho, and the leaves are just starting to turn here.
The wind died down, somewhat, later in the day. John decided it is warm enough that we will hook up to water. Hallelujah, hot and cold running water in the RV!!
Woke up to sunshine and light frost. Coffee and a muffin and back on the road, headed to New Mexico. About an hours drive to the border.
There were quite a lot of tumbleweeds along one stretch of the road south. They were actually quite fun to watch rolling and dancing across the road. Crunched real good when you ran over one.
The landscape changed once again as we crossed from one state to the next. Very interesting! New Mexico has some very flat spots with large outcroppings and mountains here and there. More mountains as we got closer to Santa Fe. The wind started to blow about halfway into our trip. Oh the WIND! The road signs in a couple of areas stated "Wind gusts likely". Ha! an understatement for sure.... You could actually say we blew into town!
At the exit to the campsite there was construction. The road had a very
narrow single lane to the intersection with a concrete barricade along the right. We had
to wait quite a while to proceed and the instructions weren't as clear
because of the construction. Well, long story shorter, I told John to
turn left at the intersection. We traveled the 1 mile down the road, as per instructions and
couldn't see the campsite, nor did it appear to be the correct road, no
road sign, so we pulled into a residential area to turn around. Turning
around with the rig involves the two way radios and backing up, which
John
thoroughly enjoys. Luckily it was around 3pm so the traffic in that
area was light. Turned around and headed back and lo and behold there
was our turn on the other side of the intersection. So we can say, we
took a wrong turn at Albuquerque...... Sorry, hahaha.
Checked in to the campsite, set up and ordered pizza delivery.
