Costa Rica

We arrived in Costa Rica the afternoon of January 2nd. A decent flight and it was pretty cool when we flew over the Gulf of Honduras and saw part of the Meso-american Barrier reef.
As usual when landing in a tropical locale, the heat and humidity hit you like a bucket of really, really warm water.
Immigration and customs were happily a breeze and our shuttle driver was waiting outside for us. We had to wait 30-40 minutes outside with our bags until the other people who were booked on the same shuttle arrived. Not that big a deal.
It took about one and a half hours to get to the condo in Langosta, down the winding hi way. The traffic in downtown Tamarindo on a Saturday evening was not good. The driver said that it was like this most nights.
On arriving at Amanpuri condos, the night doorman guided us to the office a little down the street where we got the keys and then went up to the condo.
They had the lights on and air conditioning pouring cold air into the condo. It was just as lovely as the VRBO photos had shown. Thank goodness we have had great experiences using that rental website!
It was easy to settle in and shortly after, we left to see what restaurants were in the neighbourhood.
As luck would have it, there was a pizza place just a skip down the street. It is owned and operated by an Italian cook and his friends. They had just opened in the neighbourhood 2 weeks prior. Quite a bunch of characters! Delicious and authentic Italian pizza from a brick oven.
After an amazing pizza and a couple of cold beer we headed back to our condo for a great night's sleep. No barking dogs, no roosters crowing.! Hallelujah!
